Everyone at Chapter Two Books would like to wish you and your family a very Merry Xmas & a safe New Year. We will be closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day & New Year's Day, but open and festive every other day. A special hello to all our interstate and overseas visitors - if you're visiting Adelaide, or the Adelaide Hills in particular, come into Stirling and explore our little gem of a bookshop.
Have fun everyone!

No pressure, but...
You know how we've mentioned that we've had some pretty cool stuff come in recently? And, remember when we decided to have the shop open a bit longer? Well, the result is that lots of people have been walking out of Chapter Two Books with big grins on their faces! But don't panic (yet), because there are loads of fascinating, unique, quirky and brilliant gift ideas still available to please those hard-to-please recipients. Do yourself a favour and do your Christmas shopping in the Adelaide Hills (you won't find lightning bolts of originality appearing before you at Westfield).

Art? Chapter Two Books. Nuff said.
The arts are as loved in the Adelaide Hills as they are anywhere in the world - of this, we have no doubt. We have recently bought a couple of collections and have expanded our collection significantly. Charles Blackman, Tom Roberts, Kenneth Jack, Hans Heysen and Norman Lindsay feature prominently but it's not just the Australians that have us salivating: Delacroix, Renoir, Van Gogh, Monet, Manet, Degas, Rembrandt, etc, etc. Aside from the books (which are numerous and wonderful) we have some great Toulouse-Lautrec & Michelangelo prints. You know how there's always someone who's particularly difficult to buy for at Christmas?? Not this year - come in and take a look.

Christmas catalogue out now!
Stuck for a present idea? We've just printed a catalogue which will help to relieve the stress - it gives a brief overview of what you might expect in-store & lists a few of our more collectible (delectable?) items. To get your hands on a copy, send us an email using chaptertwo@adam.com.au or phone (08) 8339 1835 and let us know your postal address. Obviously the best way is to pop in to the shop in Stirling and see for yourself! See you soon.

Got a soft spot for the ladies?
Not our usual style but we have recently been inundated with Maeve Binchy, Joanna Trollope, Rosamund Pilcher and Mary Higgins Clark - yes the female authors are out in force! Having said that, I don't think there are too many Jonathan Kellermans that we don't have either! Come in and grab a bargain - if we don't have the title you're after in these authors, maybe it's time for a change!

Fire Danger Season
As the Fire Danger Season approaches (start date Dec 1), we want to make sure all our customers watch for the new fire danger ratings as applied to the Mt Lofty Ranges. Although we won't see weather in the 'Extreme' or 'Catastrophic' range until later in the season, now is a good time to get in the habit of checking the night before you plan that trip through the Hills. When the predicted weather does hit those extreme ratings, the shop won't be open - we hope you understand. If you would like more info, give us a call or chat with us in-store (or check out the article on pg 3 of this week's Courier). You can get more info about the ratings and what they mean at www.cfs.sa.gov.au.
Anyway, probably a good opportunity to make sure you take advantage of our extended December hours - see you soon.

Books galore
Keep an eye out - now is the time to be making frequent visits to the shop! We've got a lot of great stuff to put on the shelves which we'll be processing over the next couple of weeks. You will want to pay particular attention to our collectibles cabinet, which is bursting at the seams, especially with Christmas around the corner. It's time to treat somebody special (yourself??).

Thankyou!!! (or "Phew, it's over!")
Yes, a big thankyou to the hundreds of people who attended our sale on the weekend - it was great to see the smiles on people's faces as they grabbed some great bargains and found the sort of stuff they never really thought they would ever find! (But geez, it's a lot of work!)
Thanks also to all those who helped out - Willy (there is only one!), Sayed, Sebastian, Jonty, Anna, Durin, Saiko (hope I spelt everyone's name right) and a special thanks to the City of Norwood, Payneham & St Peters for providing such an excellent venue (what a buzz).

New stuff!
Sorry for the posting lapse - been flat out putting everything together for our Massive Second-hand Book Sale next weekend. But I wanted to let you know about a whole heap of new stock:
For the sinister and disturbed minds, we have just received heaps of large-format Koontz, Higgins-Clark, King, Kellerman, Patterson, Cornwell and more. As you know, our space is not conducive to large-format fiction so these are priced to fly out the door. For the more refined, a copy of Collecting Irish Silver by Douglas Bennett (the guide/bible for any serious collector). For the young-at-heart, some lovely Madeline adventures. For the locals, some excellent SA history books - and on that note, we only have one set of the Biographical Index of South Australians 1836-1885 left. Oh, and an as-new copy of Ingleton's Matthew Flinders - Navigator and Chartmaker (it really is great!).
Of course, this is just the tip of the iceberg as we're always getting something weird and wonderful to put on the shelves! See you soon...

Don't miss our Massive Book Sale!!!
OK, diaries out? Pens ready? Here are the details...
Saturday, November 7 from 9am to 9pm
Sunday, November 8 from 9am to 5pm
Norwood Town Hall, 175 The Parade (enter off George St)
For the uninitiated:
Some of you may remember our Massive Hills Sales in Mt Barker & Stirling. While these were a big hit, we are striving for perfection and we guarantee you will not come to a better sale of secondhand books this year. In fact, you may never have seen anything like it!
We're making it more convenient and more vibrant by plonking ourselves right in the heart of Norwood on one of Adelaide's most cosmopolitan strips, The Parade.
Anyone know the name Michael Treloar? He's the guy who's been running those brilliant sales at the St Peters Town Hall for the last 200 years (give or take). Well, Mick's joining forces with Chapter Two Books for what promises to be a sale to savour. Bring a bag, box, granny trolley, shopping trolley, forklift or whatever you need to satisfy your need to read (I feel the need...)!
See you at The Sale!

Open All Long Weekend
Hi Everyone
Your favourite little bookshop is open all long weekend (10am-4pm). Say "G'day" to Rob on either Sunday or Monday. I'm sure he'd love to have a chat - especially about the great new SF stuff that's come in - Moorcock, Blish, Asimov, Vonnegut... they're all there in vintage 60s & 70s paperback. Our crime section's looking great at the moment as well plus all the sublime non-fiction you've come to expect from Adelaide's best pound-for-pound second-hand bookshop!
